E.L. James Puts Casting Rumors To Bed

Fifty Shades of Grey Author @E_L_James puts casting rumors and misquotes to bed by saying "She hasn't ruled anyone out. She also betrays no favorites."

Also fun for fans of the book—and James herself—is speculating who will play the central characters on screen. Readers share endless ideas on Twitter, and while James finds some of their suggestions perplexing, 'she hasn't ruled anyone out. She also betrays no favorites.'

Besides, she's still not sure how involved she'll be in the production or if she might contribute to the screenplay. Universal Pictures and Focus Features announced producers Michael De Luca and Dana Brunetti earlier this week, "so it's like, what's next?" she said. She almost didn't want to do the movie at all.

"Books are such a personal experience for every individual reader," she said. "I just thought it's going to be really hard to do."

But she owed it to herself—and to her story—to go for it.
"If the book says anything, it's life's not a dress rehearsal," she said. "Just go and do stuff. I'm trying to embrace that."

Fifty Shades of Grey: Racy Book Hits 20 Million Milestone!

Fifty Shades of Grey: Racy Book Hits 20 million Milestone!

The "Fifty Shades" erotic trilogy is expected to hit the 20 million-sales mark in the U.S. this week, making it one of the fastest-selling book series in recent memory.

"It's entered the cultural conversation, which has made the trilogy much bigger than books often are," said Anne Messitte, publisher of Vintage Books, an imprint of Bertelsmann AG's Random House Inc., which released the titles in the U.S.

As of July 2, the trilogy, starting with "Fifty Shades of Grey," had sold 19.4 million copies in both print and e-book form since its U.S. publication in March. The trilogy ranked first, second and third on The Wall Street Journal's best-seller list published on Saturday.

Who Should Direct Fifty Shades of Grey

Who Should Direct the Movie?

We have producers but now who should direct? Universal Pictures announced Monday that Mike DeLuca and Dana Brunetti, producers of The Social Network, have been confirmed to produce the film adaption of Fifty Shades of Grey.

Fans of EL James’ best-selling erotic trilogy have been hungry for any type of casting announcement — especially surrounding who will play Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. But first, the film needs a director.

Who would you like to see direct 50 Shades?

Rep For Jim Piddock: He is NOT writing the screenplay

Rumors were buzzing on the internet and Twitter today that Jim Piddock had been chosen to write the screenplay for Fifty Shades of GRey. was the first to post it on their site as an "exclusive" but several other outlets jumped on the story as well. It seems all the rumors were started by this tweet.

We cannot confirm if the account is real or not since it is not verified by Twitter. If it is his real account, it's very possible this was a joke gone wrong. After all he is a comedian and a comedy writer.

A rep for Piddock released the following statement to denying the rumor. "He is not writing 50 Shades Of Grey. We wish he were the writer adapting it.”

With hype this big surrounding the books and the film,  we're sure this won't be the last time something like this happens.

Fifty Shades Of Grey Has A Producer!

Mike De Luca, Dana Brunetti To Produce ‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’

BREAKING NEWS:  Mike DeLuca and Dana Brunetti have been tapped to produce Fifty Shades Of Grey, the Universal Pictures/Focus Features movie adaptation of the bestselling steamy trilogy.

De Luca and Brunetti teamed on The Social Network and Captain Phillips, the Paul Greengrass-directed film that stars Tom Hanks. The studio has just confirmed the hire, which came after a round of meetings with author E.L. James and her British agent Valerie Hoskins that involved a number of high level producers. Led by co-chairman Donna Langley, Universal won a heated bidding battle for screen rights to the trilogy, which sold in a multimillion dollar deal. Langley and De Luca go back a long way, to when Langley was a production executive at New Line and De Luca was president of production. De Luca most recently was a producer of Moneyball. They will now figure out who’ll write and direct the film, and star in what will be an R-rated adult-themed film.
