'Fifty Shades of Grey' Trilogy Helps Raise Barnes & Noble Book Sales
Barnes & Noble bookstores should be quite grateful to author EL James and the bestselling erotic romance novel, “Fifty Shades of Grey.”
According to the “Atlanta Business News” this Wednesday morning, Barnes & Noble’s sales have been on a very high rise, thanks in part due to sales from the number one bestseller in the nation, “Fifty Shades of Grey.”
While the bookstore’s first quarter’s numbers were only slightly below average with eBooks, print copies, and digital content, with the advent of “50 Shades,” reading for pleasure has taken on a whole new meaning.
Courtesy of the Associated Press and recently released results of Barnes and Noble’s latest sales, the popular ‘Twilight’ fanfiction-turned-bestseller has earned higher profits and—thanks as well to lower spending—has been helpful to the New York company in raising revenue and cutting past losses.
Due to this rise in the sale of Nooks and the pop culture phenomenon that is “Fifty Shades of Grey,” Barnes & Noble’s overall sales this week have helped earning climb up over two percent, from an estimated $1.4 billion to a sum of $1.5 billion.
