An estimated 1,200 people lined up Saturday at a Costco store in Carlsbad California to get their books signed by British erotica writer E.L. James, according to a reader who went to the event.
James, the author of best-selling trilogy "Fifty Shades of Grey," began signing fans' books just before 11 a.m., according to a shopper at the store on Palomar Airport Road.
Employees cut off the line ---- which extended through the store and out the door ---- about 12:45 p.m.
Store officials estimated that it would take about 2 1/2 hours for the last fans in line to reach the author, the reader said.
Crowds also flocked to see James on Thursday, when she appeared at San Diego Comic-Con International in downtown San Diego, according to news reports.
